Description

Ultrasound usually refers to a vibration wave with a frequency higher than 16kHz, that is, higher than the upper limit of artificial hearing frequency. The upper frequency range of the ultrasonic is mainly determined by the generator, and the actual use is within 5000MHz. Ultrasound, like sound waves, can propagate in gas, liquid and solid media, but due to its high frequency, short wavelength, and large energy, reflection, refraction, resonance and loss are significant during propagation.

Ultrasound has the following main properties

① It can transmit very strong energy, and its energy density can reach more than 100W/m2;

②It has a cavitation effect, that is, when the ultrasonic wave propagates in the liquid medium, it will locally produce a great impact force, instantaneous high temperature, material dispersion, crushing and various physical and chemical effects;

⑤Under certain conditions, interference and resonance of waves will occur.

Application

Ultrasonic processing has many applications in welding and cleaning. Ultrasonic welding is a pressure welding method in which two weldments are under pressure, using the high-frequency oscillation of ultrasonic waves to produce strong friction on the contact surface of the weldment, the surface is cleaned, and the welding is locally heated to increase the temperature. When used for plastic welding, the direction of ultrasonic vibration is the same as the direction of static pressure, while in metal welding, the direction of ultrasonic vibration is perpendicular to the direction of static pressure. Vibration modes include longitudinal vibration, bending vibration, torsional vibration and so on. The joint can be a solder joint, which overlaps the solder joints to form a continuous welding seam. The linear sonotrode is welded into a straight weld at a time, and the ring sonotrode is welded into a circular ring, a box shape, and other closed welds at one time.
