Duplex 2205 Stainless Steel Overview
Duplex 2205 stainless steel (ferritic and austenitic) is extensively used in applications requiring excellent corrosion resistance and high strength. The S31803 grade has been modified to create UNS S32205, offering superior corrosion resistance.
This grade undergoes precipitation of brittle micro-constituents above 300°C and ductile-to-brittle transition below -50°C, making it unsuitable for these temperature ranges.
Duplex 2205 (UNS S32205) is nitrogen-enhanced stainless steel chosen for its exceptional corrosion resistance and high strength, significantly outperforming most austenitic stainless steels.
