Product Overview
654 SMO (UNS S32654 / W.Nr. 1.4652) is a super austenitic stainless steel containing 23% nickel, 25% chromium and 7% molybdenum. Its corrosion resistance is comparable to that of the best nickel-based alloys. With nitrogen content twice as high as 254SMo, 654SMO offers higher intensity than 904L and 254SMo grades.

UNS S32654 (1.4652, 654SMO) is a special stainless steel containing high percentages of Nickel and Chromium, 7% molybdenum, and very high nitrogen content, providing high mechanical strength. 654SMO is recognized as the stainless steel with the highest corrosion resistance in the world, featuring fairly high electrical conductivity among wrought super austenitic stainless steels, along with fairly low thermal conductivity and moderately high ductility.

Key Features
Due to its high molybdenum content, 654SMO super austenitic stainless steel presents challenges during seamless pipe perforation, being hard and sticky with risks of eccentricity or cracking. Our manufacturing process involves punching holes in the center of round steels followed by direct cold rolling or cold drawing to produce seamless pipes, ensuring high success rates despite increased costs.
654SMO (S32654, 1.4652) super austenitic stainless steel features excellent local corrosion resistance, superior pitting resistance, and outstanding stress corrosion resistance under seawater, aeration, gap, and low-speed scouring conditions. It serves as an effective substitute for nickel-based alloys and titanium alloys, offering superior high-temperature resistance and corrosion resistance compared to 904L and 254SMo grades.
