The wastewater generated during the production of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and natural medicines is characterized by high organic matter concentration (mainly derived from plant extraction), deep chroma, and the presence of a certain amount of refractory natural macromolecules (e.g., lignin, tannins, pigments). Traditional treatment methods often face challenges such as limited treatment efficiency, large dosage of chemical agents, high sludge production, and difficulty in stably meeting increasingly stringent discharge or reuse standards.
