The PEPPERL+FUCHS KFD2-SR2-Ex2.2S is a 2-channel isolated barrier switch amplifier designed for intrinsic safety applications in industrial environments. This robust device transfers digital signals from hazardous areas to safe areas while providing reliable isolation and protection.

2-channel isolated barrier with 24 V DC Power Rail supply
Compatible with dry contact or NAMUR inputs
Can function as a signal splitter (1 input and 2 outputs)
2 x 2 relay contact outputs with AND logic
Integrated line fault detection (LFD)
Reversible mode of operation
SIL 2 certification according to IEC/EN 61508

Functional Description

This isolated barrier is engineered for intrinsic safety applications, transferring digital signals from NAMUR sensors or mechanical contacts located in hazardous areas to safe area equipment. Each sensor or switch controls two form A normally open relay contacts for safe area load operation.

The device offers flexible configuration with switches S1 and S2 for reversing the normal output state, and switch S3 for enabling or disabling line fault detection of the field circuit. During error conditions, relays revert to their de-energized state with LED fault indication according to NAMUR NE44 standards.

When used with the Power Rail system, the amplifier provides unique collective error messaging capabilities for enhanced system monitoring and diagnostics.
