This shell-and-tube heat exchanger is designed to cool concentrated sulfuric acid (93% to 99%) as it moves through the drying and absorption stages of contact process plants. The system employs anodic protection technology to prevent corrosion in aggressive high-temperature sulfuric acid environments where standard materials would fail.

Anodic Protection Technology

The anodic protection system maintains stainless steel components at a specific electrical potential within the passive range. The system includes cathodic setups (long cathodes through the shell or pin cathodes in nozzles), reference electrodes for monitoring, and a potentiostat as the DC power control center.
