Dow Corning 9186LC is a one-part moisture-cure adhesive that cures rapidly at room temperature (20-30 minutes for initial handling), eliminating the need for ovens. It offers flowable application, no added solvents, and forms a soft, low-stress elastomer. Curing progresses from the surface inward, achieving over 90% of full properties within 24-72 hours, enhancing manufacturing efficiency and reducing energy costs.
The adhesive's fast tack-free time of 8 minutes at 25°C enables quick in-line processing, with optional heat acceleration below 60°C to further speed throughput. Its low viscosity (64,000 cP) allows easy flow and self-leveling, filling gaps effectively. Special attributes include controlled silicone volatility (low molecular siloxane content: 35 ppm D4-D10), ensuring minimal outgassing for sensitive electronics. The cured elastomer has high elongation (550%) and soft durometer (Shore A 20), reducing mechanical stress on components. Electrical properties, such as dielectric strength (23 kV/mm) and volume resistivity (2.0E+16 ohm·cm), provide reliable insulation in diverse conditions.
