Description
Gel free or “all dry” Dielectric Self-Supporting (ADSS) Cable is designed so its tensile strength gel free member will provide the necessary resistance to sag to overcome the effects of its own weight, ice and wind loading, so the cable span will remain serviceable, even over very long spans, for its entire lifetime. It is gel-free, containing water blocking powder, yarn, and ribbon to block water entry into the cable. This document describes the placement method of Gel free ADSS Cable.
These cables are designed to be strong enough to allow longer lengths of cable to be installed between support towers. ADSS cable is designed to be light weight and small in diameter to reduce the load on tower structures due to cable weight, wind, and ice. ADSS(All-Dielectric Self-Supporting) cable is ideal for installation in distribution as well as transmission environments, even when live-line installations are required. There is no support or messenger wire required, so installation is achieved in a single pass, making ADSS an economical and simple means of building a fiber optic network.
