U10 UAV-Based Remote Laser Methane Detection System

The U10 is a drone-mounted laser methane detection system developed for aerial inspection of natural gas infrastructure, petrochemical facilities, and industrial sites. By combining remote laser sensing with UAV mobility, it enables inspection teams to survey difficult-to-access areas while maintaining a safe distance from suspected gas leak locations.

Designed for aerial monitoring applications, the U10 helps operators extend inspection coverage across complex terrain and large facilities without relying entirely on ground-based inspection methods.

Remote Methane Detection from Aerial Platforms

The U10 uses Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS) to detect methane through its characteristic optical absorption properties. Its remote sensing capability allows operators to investigate potential leak locations from an aerial platform without requiring direct contact with the suspected source.

This approach supports gas leak screening along pipeline corridors, around industrial infrastructure, and across sites where ground access is restricted or inconvenient.

Designed for Challenging Inspection Environments

The compact payload design supports integration with compatible enterprise UAV platforms, allowing inspection teams to reach locations that may be difficult to access on foot or by vehicle.

The U10 is suitable for surveys across mountainous terrain, hillsides, forests, river crossings, and densely developed areas. It can also support aerial inspection of infrastructure associated with underground pipeline networks, helping teams assess accessible routes and suspected leak locations from above.

Its corrosion-resistant housing is designed for use in demanding field environments. Actual operating suitability depends on weather conditions, installation requirements, and the manufacturer's specified environmental limits.

Efficient Data Transmission and Inspection Workflows

The U10 supports the transmission of detection information to operators during aerial inspection activities, helping teams review findings and make timely decisions about potential leak indications.

When integrated into an appropriate UAV inspection workflow, the system can help coordinate flight surveys, gas detection activities, and follow-up investigation. This supports more organized inspection operations across extensive pipeline networks and industrial facilities.

DJI Drone Integration

Designed for DJI SkyPort integration, the U10 can be deployed on compatible DJI enterprise drone platforms. This integration supports the combination of aerial mobility and laser methane sensing in a single inspection solution.

The drone-mounted configuration helps inspection teams survey elevated infrastructure, remote pipeline corridors, and locations where conventional ground-based measurement may be less practical.

Applications

Natural Gas Pipeline Inspection

Conduct aerial surveys along transmission and distribution pipeline corridors to screen for potential methane leaks and identify locations requiring further investigation.

Petrochemical and Industrial Facilities

Inspect accessible areas around processing plants, storage installations, and associated gas infrastructure from suitable aerial viewpoints.

Landfill and Biogas Monitoring

Support methane emission screening at landfill sites, biogas facilities, and other locations associated with methane generation.

Urban Utility Infrastructure

Survey gas-related infrastructure in built-up areas where access may be restricted and aerial observation can improve inspection coverage.

Emergency Gas Leak Assessment

Support remote preliminary surveys of suspected gas leak locations, helping inspection teams assess site conditions before closer investigation.

Aerial Methane Inspection for Greater Operational Flexibility

The U10 combines UAV deployment, remote laser sensing, and field data transmission to support flexible methane inspection across challenging environments. By bringing gas detection capabilities to aerial platforms, it helps operators expand survey coverage, reduce reliance on ground access, and improve the efficiency of natural gas infrastructure and industrial inspection workflows.
