Product Description

P20 Open-Path Pan-Tilt Laser Methane Leak Monitoring System

The AiLF P20 is an advanced open-path laser methane leak monitoring system designed for continuous gas leak detection across natural gas pipelines, storage facilities, processing plants, and other industrial installations. Based on Tunable Diode Laser Absorption Spectroscopy (TDLAS), the P20 uses a methane-specific absorption wavelength of approximately 1.65 μm to detect methane along an open optical path.

Equipped with an automated pan-tilt scanning mechanism, the P20 can monitor designated areas and inspection routes continuously. With a specified response time of 0.1 seconds, IP66-rated environmental protection, and integration options for remote monitoring networks, the system helps operators identify potential methane leaks, generate alarms, and report detection information to a centralized control room.

Open-Path TDLAS Technology for Selective Methane Detection

The P20 uses laser absorption spectroscopy to measure methane based on its characteristic absorption of laser light. The emitted laser beam travels through the monitored area, where methane absorbs part of the optical energy. The receiving system analyzes the returned light to determine methane levels along the optical path.

Operating at a methane-specific wavelength, the system offers selective detection with minimal interference from other atmospheric gases. This helps improve the reliability of methane leak monitoring in industrial environments where exhaust gases and other airborne substances may otherwise complicate detection.

Automated Pan-Tilt Scanning and Continuous Monitoring

The P20 integrates pan-tilt scanning technology to automatically inspect designated directions and monitoring zones. Scanning routes can be configured for the intended installation, enabling scheduled or continuous surveillance of important infrastructure and potential leak locations.

Designed for 24/7 operation, the system helps reduce reliance on manual inspection and supports continuous monitoring of critical gas facilities. When connected to a compatible monitoring platform, it can automatically report detected leaks and associated information to the control room for prompt investigation.

Fast Detection and Intelligent Alarm Management

With a specified detection response time of 0.1 seconds, the P20 supports rapid identification of potential methane leaks. Its internal signal-processing algorithms, auto-zero function, and transmitter and receiver self-test modes help maintain measurement reliability during continuous operation.

The system is designed to help operators identify suspected leaks, assess detected methane signals, and support more efficient alarm management. Actual alarm performance depends on installation conditions, optical-path configuration, and system settings.

Remote Network Integration and Centralized Control

The P20 supports integration into networked monitoring architectures, allowing multiple devices to provide information to a centralized control platform. With compatible backend software and communication equipment, the system can transmit monitoring data and alarms for remote supervision and coordinated response.

A 5G network connection can be incorporated into suitable configurations, helping operators access monitoring information from remote locations. The networking setup can be tailored to the requirements of gas pipelines, storage facilities, processing plants, and other distributed infrastructure.

IP66 Protection for Outdoor Industrial Environments

The P20 features an IP66-rated enclosure designed to protect against dust ingress and powerful water jets. This supports deployment in demanding outdoor environments exposed to rain, windblown dust, and other weather conditions, subject to the manufacturer's installation and operating requirements.

Optional heated optics help support reliable optical performance in installations where temperature changes or environmental contamination may affect the optical path.

Flexible Power Options for Remote Installations

The P20 is designed for low-power operation, supporting solar-powered deployments where the system configuration and available energy supply are appropriate. This can be beneficial for remote pipeline corridors and isolated gas infrastructure where access to conventional power sources is limited.

Power-supply requirements depend on the selected configuration, including the pan-tilt mechanism, communications equipment, and optional accessories. Proper system sizing helps support continuous operation in remote locations.

Built-In Diagnostics and Operational Data Management

The P20 offers practical features for continuous monitoring, including transmitter and receiver self-tests, auto-zero functionality, non-volatile memory, a real-time clock, and built-in signal processing. These functions support routine system diagnostics, time-associated monitoring records, and more convenient maintenance.

When connected to the dedicated monitoring software, the P20 can support automated alarm reporting and centralized visibility across monitored assets, helping inspection and operations teams coordinate their response to potential methane leaks.

Applications Across Gas Infrastructure and Industry

The P20 is suitable for continuous methane monitoring along natural gas pipelines, gas storage facilities, gas processing plants, and distribution infrastructure. It can also support leak surveillance at chemical plants, manufacturing facilities, power plants, and wastewater treatment sites where methane may be present in relevant processes, including biogas systems.

By combining open-path laser detection, automated pan-tilt scanning, fast response, and networked monitoring, the P20 provides a flexible solution for continuous methane leak surveillance and industrial gas safety management.
