ACSR Bare Conductor 1/0 2/0 AWG Stranded Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced Overhead Transmission IEC 61089 ASTM B232

This ACSR bare conductor is manufactured in 1/0 AWG and 2/0 AWG sizes, with stranded aluminum wires laid concentrically over a galvanized steel core. The cable is produced to the requirements of IEC 61089 and ASTM B232, covering both the international and American standard systems for steel-reinforced aluminum conductors. The steel core carries the tensile load, while the aluminum layers conduct current, making the conductor suitable for overhead transmission and distribution circuits. The conductor is supplied uninsulated for direct mounting on insulators and line hardware, and its composite structure helps control sag between supports. The galvanized core resists atmospheric corrosion, and the aluminum surface forms a natural oxide layer in outdoor service.

Specifications

The Characteristics of ACSR:

1. Dual Standard Compliance
   Manufactured to both IEC 61089 and ASTM B232, allowing the conductor to be specified against either the international or American standard system.

2. 1/0 and 2/0 AWG Sizing
   Available in two common AWG designations, providing options for overhead circuits requiring moderate current-carrying capacity and mechanical reinforcement.

3. Galvanized Steel Core
   The zinc-coated core resists atmospheric corrosion while supplying the tensile strength needed for spans beyond the capability of all-aluminum conductors.

4. Concentric Stranded Aluminum Layers
   Electrical-grade aluminum wires are stranded in concentric layers around the core, forming a uniform conductive path and permitting the cable to be reeled, strung, and tensioned with standard line equipment.

5. Bare Overhead Construction
   Supplied without insulation for direct installation on insulators and support hardware, reducing material complexity compared with insulated overhead cables.

Pay attention to the following steps during installation:

1. Tension control: It is recommended to control the tension at 20% -30% of the rated value to avoid excessive stretching.
2. Sag adjustment: Adjust the sag according to the ambient temperature, generally within the range of 1% -3% span.
3. Connection processing: Use specialized crimping tools, and the recommended crimping pressure is 20-30MPa.
