Protein cobalt feed additive (cobalt protein chelate) is a protein-derived cobalt chelate formed by the coordination bond chelation of cobalt ions (Co²⁺/Co³⁺) with hydrolyzed animal and plant proteins. It is a highly efficient organic cobalt feed additive, distinct from inorganic cobalt compounds such as cobalt chloride and cobalt sulfate. With hydrolyzed protein as the ligand, its chelate structure is stable, and the cobalt element can be slowly released and absorbed through the intestinal protein/peptide transport system, resulting in a bioavailability far exceeding that of inorganic cobalt. Moreover, the cobalt addition amount is at the trace level, and the precise absorption characteristics of protein cobalt can avoid the inefficient waste and potential accumulation of inorganic cobalt, making it the preferred raw material for cobalt supplementation in feed formulations.
