Product Description
This Nylon Hollow Wall Mini Wing Anchor is a lightweight ceiling-mount fastening solution specifically designed for smoke detectors, carbon monoxide alarms, security sensors, motion detectors, and small ceiling-mounted safety devices on plasterboard and gypsum board surfaces. Each anchor includes a 5mm diameter nylon mini expanding wing plug pre-matched with an M3.5 x 30mm zinc-plated self-tapping screw, providing secure overhead anchoring for lightweight safety equipment.
The installation follows the straightforward hollow wall anchoring principle: drill a 5mm hole at the ceiling mounting position, insert the nylon plug until the flange is flush with the ceiling surface, position the detector mounting bracket, and drive the M3.5 screw upward into the plug. As the screw advances, it compresses the nylon body and triggers the mini-wings to fold outward behind the plasterboard. These wings create a positive mechanical lock on the rear side of the ceiling board, securely holding the safety device against gravity without relying on hole-wall friction that can deteriorate over time in ceiling installations.
The nylon material combines excellent toughness with superior aging resistance, ensuring the wing anchor maintains its full gripping force through the entire service life of the smoke detector - often 10 years or more between device replacements. The compact 30mm body length requires minimal rear cavity clearance, making it compatible with the tight overhead spaces typically found in ceiling installations.
