Automobile manufacturers and their suppliers heavily rely on innovative technologies such as industrial robots to achieve production automation, but the continuous development of innovative technologies has also caused more difficulties. For example, in robot based dispensing applications, a robot carrying a hose filled with viscous liquid may perform several different actions, which may lead to bending and sometimes malfunction. Given this situation, LEONI has designed a robot tubing system specifically designed for the challenge of dispensing applications.
In the automotive industry, the vast majority of dispensing operations are carried out by industrial robots, including painting, adhesives, sealants, and other viscous liquids. Reciprocating motion can cause bending in all axis areas of the robot, especially in the positions of axis 2 and axis 3. This scissor like effect can cause pressure on the metal sheath of the hose, ultimately leading to failure.
To address this issue, the Lenny dispensing robot pipeline package uses a breakpoint with a rotating bracket to reduce pressure on the bending radius of the hose. We have developed a system with a large North American automaker to reduce malfunctions.

With the application of automotive floor soundproofing materials and subsequent joining processes, such as using adhesives to join the interior and exterior of the car shell, robot based dispensing technology is becoming increasingly popular. Nowadays, robot dispensing has become an integral part of the production of electric vehicle (EV) batteries and is even more important for the automotive industry. During the dispensing process, the robot applies thermal sensing material to the electric vehicle battery tray installed on top of the radiator. This material will absorb the heat from the battery, while the radiator below will cool the battery.
With the increasing popularity of electric vehicles, robots that dot thermal sensing materials onto battery trays have become increasingly important. For example, a large automobile manufacturer's gasoline vehicle production plant is equipped with 8 sealant spot coating systems throughout the entire factory. However, factories that produce electric vehicles for the same manufacturer already have over 8 sealant point coating systems, and due to the popularity of electric vehicles, they will soon double the number of such systems.
