How is the ball for a PPR double union brass ball valve manufactured?
Ball for a Ball Valve is manufactured either from castings or rod. Usually the material for rod would be Stainless Steel. The rods are first cut to the required size using a hacksaw machine. Now using a Lathe, either a CNC or a regular lathe machine, a hole is drilled according to the bore of the ball required and then bored to precise dimensions. Now OD turning is done to the required radius. Using a milling machine a slot is machined on the OD of the ball to accommodate the stem, which helps in rotating the ball. Now the balls are finished by polishing and buffing to give it a mirror finish.
