Bossde P-418 Ready To Use 1K Plastic Primer PP ABS Adhesion Promoter For Car

Many automotive plastic parts are difficult to coat because materials such as PP have low surface energy. Even when a topcoat looks good immediately after spraying, poor substrate adhesion can later result in peeling, edge lifting or coating loss.

Bossde P-418 is designed as a thin adhesion-promoting layer for prepared PP and ABS plastic. It is used before the color coat or another compatible coating layer to support more stable bonding between the plastic surface and the paint system.

It is particularly practical for fast repair work because it is a single-component product: no hardener, no reducer, no mixing cup calculation and no activated-material waste.

1. Step 1 — Identify and Inspect the Plastic Part

   Confirm that the part is PP or ABS whenever possible. Check for unstable old paint, cracked areas, wax, road film, silicone or other contaminants.

2. Step 2 — Clean Before Sanding

   Wash and degrease the component thoroughly. Contamination trapped during sanding can reduce coating adhesion.

3. Step 3 — Create the Proper Sanding Profile

   Dry sand with P800–P1000 abrasive paper. The purpose is to create a clean and even mechanical profile, not to aggressively remove material or damage molded texture.

4. Step 4 — Remove Dust and Degrease Again

   Blow off sanding dust, wipe with a suitable cleaning product and allow the surface to dry completely.

5. Step 5 — Apply P-418 Lightly

   Pour the product directly into the spray gun. Apply one very thin, uniform coat. It should function as an adhesion layer, not as a visible heavy primer film.

6. Step 6 — Allow Flash-Off

   Allow approximately 5 minutes before applying a compatible topcoat.

7. Step 7 — Apply the Following Coating System

   Apply the selected compatible color coat, direct gloss topcoat or other approved automotive refinishing finish according to its own technical instructions.

The most important application requirement for P-418 is simple:

Spray one light, even and very thin coat. Do not build film thickness.

A thick layer does not create stronger adhesion. Instead, it can increase the likelihood of poor bonding, solvent retention, uneven appearance or later coating failure.

For molded bumpers, textured trims and detailed parts, controlled thin application also helps preserve fine edges, grain patterns and original part appearance.

P-418 and a 2K plastic primer serve different functions. Select the coating system according to substrate condition, repair scope and finish requirements.

1. Can P-418 be used directly on smooth, unsanded PP?

   No. Sand the cleaned plastic with P800–P1000 first to establish a suitable surface profile.

2. Is it necessary to reduce P-418 in hot weather?

   No reducer is specified. Use the product as supplied and control application through thin spraying and proper workshop conditions.

3. Can I use P-418 underneath body filler?

   No. It is an adhesion primer for subsequent coating layers, not a substrate for filler application.

4. Can I apply clear coat directly over P-418?

   P-418 is normally followed by a compatible color coat or approved finish system. Confirm the complete coating process with a compatibility test.

5. Why is the primer glossy or wet-looking after spraying?

   This often indicates excessive application. The product should be applied as a thin, even adhesion layer rather than a heavy wet coat.

6. Can P-418 be sanded before topcoating?

   Its intended process is to topcoat after approximately 5 minutes flash-off. Do not add an unnecessary sanding step unless your complete system has been validated.

7. Does P-418 repair cracks or deep scratches in a plastic bumper?

   No. Repair cracks, deformation and deep damage using suitable plastic repair materials before final sanding and priming.

8. Can I store unused P-418 after opening?

   Close the container tightly and store it in a dry, ventilated area away from ignition sources. Evaluate product condition before reuse and follow the applicable storage instructions.
