Bossde P-418 1K Plastic Primer PP ABS Adhesion Promoter For Car Bumper

Bossde P-418 1K Plastic Primer is a single-component, ready-to-use adhesion primer developed for PP and ABS plastic parts in automotive refinishing and plastic repair work.

Based on a chlorinated polypropylene modified acrylic resin system, P-418 is intended to improve the bond between prepared low-adhesion plastic substrates and subsequent coating layers. It is especially suitable for repaired or refinished automotive bumpers, mirror housings, grilles, door handles, wheel arch trims, spoilers and motorcycle plastic parts.

P-418 is not a filling primer. It is designed to be applied in one very thin, even coat. Excessive film build may reduce adhesion performance.

Correct surface preparation is essential for adhesion.

1. Clean the part thoroughly to remove road film, oil, wax, silicone and other contaminants.
2. Dry sand the PP or ABS surface with P800–P1000 abrasive paper.
3. Remove sanding dust completely.
4. Degrease again if necessary and allow the surface to dry fully.
5. Apply Bossde P-418 in one light, uniform coat.

Avoid applying over contaminated, wet, poorly sanded or unstable old coatings.

Do not apply a heavy coat. P-418 is an adhesion-promoting primer rather than a high-build surfacer. Excessive thickness can negatively affect adhesion and may increase the risk of coating defects.

1. Does Bossde P-418 require a hardener?

   No. It is a 1K ready-to-use product and does not require a hardener or reducer.

2. Can P-418 be used on all plastics?

   It is specified for prepared PP and ABS plastic. For other plastics, conduct a compatibility and adhesion test before production use.

3. Can I apply multiple heavy coats for stronger adhesion?

   No. Apply one very thin, even coat. Excessive thickness may reduce adhesion performance.

4. How long should I wait before spraying topcoat?

   Allow approximately 5 minutes of flash-off time before topcoat application.

5. Why is paint peeling from the plastic after refinishing?

   Common causes include poor cleaning, silicone or wax contamination, inadequate sanding, applying P-418 too heavily, insufficient flash-off or an incompatible topcoat system.

6. Can this product fill scratches or sanding marks?

   No. P-418 is an adhesion primer, not a high-build primer or filling surfacer. Repair and level deep defects before applying it.

7. Can I use P-418 on a bumper with old paint?

   Only apply after confirming that the old coating is stable, properly sanded, clean and compatible. Areas with failed or loose coating should be removed and repaired first.

8. What happens if P-418 is sprayed too thick?

   An overly thick layer may affect adhesion and can contribute to coating defects. Apply a light, uniform mist coat only.
