A connecting rod bearing provides motion of the crankpin within the connecting rod. This rotation transmits cycling loads applied to the piston. Connecting rod bearings are on the big end of the connecting rod.
There are two types of ends small end and big end bearings. The big end is split at right angles to its length as at or at an angle , in order that it may be assembled on the crankpin. A cap is fixed to the body of the connecting rod by two bolts and nuts.
