Product Details
1791-16BC is an AB Discrete I/O Block. The Block I/O product line is comprised of remote I/O devices with self-contained power supply, programmable controller interface, input/output connections and signal conditioning circuitry. 1791-16BC is a 16 input/16 output block I/O module with 24 Volts DC. These Block I/Os are compatible with PLC-2, PLC-3, PLC-5/250 and PLC-5 family programmable controllers, and the SLC 5/02 modular controllers. To protect the module, the 1791-16BC block I/O module is internally fused so there no external power fusing is required. The outputs of the block I/O modules are not fused. It is recommended to fuse the outputs of 1791-16BC. External fusing must be provided by operators if fusing is desired.
1791-16BC has horizontal and vertical mounting options; each of which has its own output current rating. At 60 degrees Celsius, vertical mounting has a current rating of 500 milliamps while horizontal mounting has a 250 milliamps current rating. Low temperatures will increase the current rating. The current rating of vertical mounting will increase to 1 Amp at 30 degrees Celsius while horizontal mounting at 30 degrees Celsius will increase the current to 500 milliamps. The maximum surge current for the1791-16BC is 3 Amps for 50 milliseconds. Please be aware of all module specifications before installing or connecting this module with other devices. Be sure that all devices that you are going to connect with 1791-16BC are compatible with the module's requirements.
