The AB 1756-IA16 is a ControlLogix digital I/O module. In particular, it is an AC digital input module that connects to a ControlLogix chassis and it requires an RTB, removable terminal block, a 1492 IFM, or an interface module, to connect all field-side wiring. It has 8 diagnostic inputs, with 8 points per group. The 1756-IA16 has features that users can configure, namely the ‘change of state’ and ‘input filter times’ settings which can be adjusted by using the RSLogix 5000 software. The 1756-IA16 module's operating voltage range is from 74 to 132 Volts AC at a frequency of 47 to 63 Hertz, while both the voltage category and input frequency are 120 Volts AC and 50/60 Hertz, respectively.
If the 1756-IA16 screwed to the backplane, the input delay time from 'off' to 'on' is 10 milliseconds maximum plus the filter time (this is user-selectable at 1 or 2 milliseconds) for the hardware delay and 8 milliseconds maximum plus filter time (also user-selectable at 9 or 18 milliseconds) from 'on' to 'off'. At 5.1 Volts DC, the current draw is 100 milliamps and there are 2 milliamps of current draw at 24 Volts DC. The total backplane power is 0.58 Watts and it dissipates 5.8 Watts of power at 60 degrees Celsius for and 18.41 BTU/hour of thermal energy. The maximum off-state voltage is 20 Volts and the current is 2.5 milliamps. The on-state current of the 1756-IA16, on the other hand, ranges from a minimum of 5 milliamps at 74 Volts AC to a maximum of 13 milliamps at 132 Volts AC. The maximum recorded inrush current is 250 milliamps peak, decaying to less than 37% in 22 milliseconds without activation.
