The Bently Nevada 330500 Velomitor Piezo-velocity Sensor is a rugged, solid-state vibration sensor designed for absolute velocity measurement of machine casings, bearing housings, or structural elements.It uses

 piezoelectric technology (piezo-velocity principle) combined with onboard electronics — so it has no moving parts, improving long-term durability and reliability.The part number

 “330500-01-05” denotes a specific configuration (thread option “01” = ½-20 UNF, approvals option “05” etc) within the 330500 family.Mount the sensor on a bearing

housing or structural part of rotating machinery (turbine, compressor, motor) to monitor vibration levels. The sensor then provides a velocity signal that

is fed into a vibration monitoring system or machine-protection system. Because it is piezoelectric and

 solid-state, it is suitable for high-reliability, industrial-grade monitoring.



FAQ


Q1: What does “piezo-velocity” mean in this sensor context?
A1: It means the sensor uses a piezoelectric crystal or element to generate a voltage proportional to the velocity of the sensor case movement (i.e., the housing vibration relative to free space). Unlike older moving-coil velocity probes, the piezo variant has no moving parts and is thus more robust.


Q2: What part of the machine should I mount this sensor on?
A2: The sensor is intended for mounting on a bearing housing, machine casing or structure where the vibration you wish to monitor is transmitted. It is important that the mounting location indeed experiences the vibration of interest — otherwise measurements may not reflect rotor

 issues. The datasheet advises that for effective machine protection, rotor vibration must be faithfully transmitted

to the casing or mounting point. 


Q3: Can the sensor be mounted in any orientation?
A3: Yes — because the sensor uses a solid-state design (no moving mechanical parts) it can be mounted vertically,

horizontally or at any angle without degrading performance.
