Here are some common types of cable fittings used for throttle cables on motorcycles:
Barrel Adjusters - Threaded fitting that attaches to the cable housing end. Allows fine tuning of cable tension by threading the cable in and out. Often placed where the cable housing meets the throttle tube.
Swaged Ends - The cable is inserted into a metal ferrule and compressed/shaped to hold it firmly in place. Provides a clean, sealed end that won't pull through. Common on the engine/carburetor side connection.
Crimp Terminals - Hollow metal or plastic caps crimped closed around the cable end using a special tool. Provides easy cable attachment point that won't loosen over time. Used at throttle tube connection often.
Clevis Fittings - U-shaped stamped metal bracket used to join two rotating components like a cable end and throttle tube/linkage arm. Pin/bolt passes through both to form the pivot point.
Throttle Slide Clips - Small C-shaped retaining clips that hold the cable end securely inside the throttle body/slide component on the engine. Prevents cable pull-out.
Ball Joints - Universal joint-style fitting with dual ball-and-socket ends to allow articulation between cable housing end and throttle linkage arm. Absorbs misalignment.
Adjuster Screws - Short threaded studs at the engine-side linkage connection, allows minor throttle position adjustment by screwing the cable fitting in or out.
