Thermal paper is a special type of paper coated with a chemical that changes color when exposed to
heat, eliminating the need for ink or toner. It is used in thermal printers to create images, often for receipts,
tickets, and labels. The process involves a thermal print head heating the paper to create the desired
characters or images, which are formed by a reaction between the heat and the paper's chemical coating.
How it works?
Chemical coating: Thermal paper has a special coating containing a dye and a developer that, when
heated, undergo a chemical reaction to change color.
Inkless printing: A thermal print head, which is made of tiny heating elements, selectively heats the paper
as it moves through the printer.
Image formation: The heated spots on the paper darken, forming the characters and images that are printed.
No ink required: This method means there are no ink cartridges or ribbons needed, making it a clean
and efficient printing method.
