Project Background

The client is a boutique winery in Niagara with an annual output of approximately 30,000 bottles of wine. Its original winemaking workshop was housed in a 19th‑century stone building with insufficient space. The newly‑built steel‑structure workshop is designed to accommodate stainless‑steel fermentation tanks, oak‑barrel storage and a tasting area. Its exterior must harmonize with the winery’s historic character.

Technical Solution

• Portal frame with a clear span of 13 m. The roof ridge is locally raised to 6.0 m in the fermentation‑tank zone to house 5 m‑high 5,000 L fermentation tanks.
• Exterior finishing: the steel structure is clad with cedar wood siding, paired with a limestone‑veneer base wall to match the style of the winery’s main building.
• Insulation: 100 mm PIR sandwich panels for the roof; 75 mm rock‑wool sandwich panels for walls.
