A prefabricated steel structure building is a bolt-together steel frame system in which every column, rafter, purlin, and connection plate is precision-cut, drilled, and welded in our factory — then containerized and shipped to your site for rapid assembly.

Project Background

The client is a fast-growing poultry processor in southwestern Nigeria with in-house slaughter lines and cold-chain distribution networks. Located in a tropical rainforest climate zone, the site has an average annual temperature of 28°C, peak temperature up to 38°C, and relative humidity consistently above 80%. Ventilation and cooling inside the poultry house represent the core technical challenge.

Technical Solution

• Portal frame steel structure, 14m span, 4.5m column spacing, eave height 3.0m, ridge height 4.8m
• Double-slope roof with 25° pitch; colour steel roof sheets + continuous ridge ventilator for stack effect ventilation
• Fully open longitudinal design on both sides: 1.2m retractable PVC curtain on upper section, 0.6m fixed masonry kick wall at bottom
• Longitudinal evaporative cooling pad & fan system: 14m × 1.8m cooling pad on one gable end, 6 sets of 1400mm axial exhaust fans on the opposite gable
• Floor: 60mm plain concrete slab, finished level +300mm to prevent rainwater backflow
• All steel members hot-dip galvanized (zinc coating ≥60μm) to resist corrosion from high humidity and ammonia gas

Project Highlights

CFD airflow simulation was adopted during design. It guarantees a cross-section air velocity ≥2.0 m/s inside the house when all 6 fans run simultaneously. Field measurement confirms that with ambient temperature at 38°C, indoor temperature can be kept below 30°C. After commissioning, the client’s flock survival rate rose from 88% in the old houses to 94%.
