1. Product Description

This product is a butt-welding 180-degree Long Radius (LR) elbow manufactured from Inconel 625 (UNS N06625) nickel-chromium alloy in accordance with ASME B16.9 and ASME B16.28 standards . Inconel 625 is a solid-solution strengthened nickel-based superalloy containing niobium (Nb) and molybdenum (Mo), which impart exceptional high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance, and outstanding corrosion resistance in aggressive environments . The 180-degree LR elbow features a radius of curvature equal to 1.5 times the pipe diameter (R = 1.5D), enabling a complete 180° flow reversal with minimal pressure drop . This 2" Schedule 20 fitting is designed for permanent butt-weld connection in extreme service piping systems.

5. Functions

The 180° LR elbow changes the direction of fluid flow within a piping system by a complete 180-degree reversal, forming a "U" shape that enables pipes to fold back parallel . This design is particularly useful for compact pipeline layouts, bypassing obstacles, creating return flow, or installation in space-limited areas where complete flow reversal is required .

6. Installation Instructions

1. Preparation: Mechanically clean using dedicated tools to prevent contamination; Inconel requires a higher degree of cleanliness than steel 

2. Edge Preparation: Machine bevel angle per joint preparation requirements 

3. Alignment: Accurately align the elbow with connecting pipes; maintain proper fit-up

4. Welding: Use GTAW (TIG) or GMAW (MIG) process with ERNiCrMo-3 (Inconel 625 filler) per AWS A5.14 . Shielding: 100% Argon; back purge required for root pass to prevent oxidation . Use stringer beads (avoid wide weave) 

5. Parameter Control: Heat input controlled to avoid hot cracking. Interpass temperature ≤ 175°C 

6. Post-Weld: No post-weld heat treatment required for routine corrosion performance . Remove heat tint and clean to bright finish.

7. Precautions

• Cleanliness: Requires a higher degree of cleanliness than steel; use dedicated tools for nickel alloys to prevent iron pickup 

• Hot Cracking Sensitivity: Use over-alloyed filler (ERNiCrMo-3) and control heat input to minimize hot cracking risk 

• Interpass Temperature: Must be maintained below 175°C (350°F) to avoid microfissuring 

• Back Purging: Essential for full-penetration joints to prevent internal oxidation and preserve corrosion resistance 

• No PWHT: Not required in many applications due to solid-solution strengthening, but follow supplier guidance for specific designs
