This product is a forged CuNi Sockolet manufactured from UNS C71500 (70/30 Copper-Nickel alloy / CuNi 70/30) in accordance with ASTM B466 and ASME B16.11 standards. A Sockolet is a specialized branch connection fitting used to connect a smaller branch pipe to a larger main pipe (run pipe). Unlike standard tees, an Olet family fitting is shaped to match the curvature of the run pipe and contains internal reinforcement, making it stronger and better suited for high-stress applications. UNS C71500 offers higher strength compared to C70600 due to its 30% nickel content. This 1" Class 3000# fitting features a socket weld (SW) connection on both the branch and main pipe sides.

The Sockolet creates a reinforced branch connection from a larger main pipe to a smaller branch pipe (1"). It is welded directly onto the run pipe after cutting a hole, providing a strong, leak-tight junction for fluid diversion. The socket weld connection involves inserting the pipe into the socket and applying a fillet weld around the joint, forming a permanent, pressure-rated connection suitable for high-temperature and high-pressure environments.
Preparation: Clean the run pipe surface and Sockolet socket interior thoroughly; remove all dirt, oil, and debris.
Marking: Mark the exact drilling location on the run pipe per specification.
Drilling: Drill the run pipe at the marked location to the required diameter.
Fitting Placement: Position the Sockolet over the drilled hole, ensuring proper alignment with the run pipe curvature.
Welding: Insert the branch pipe into the Sockolet socket leaving a 1/16" (1.6 mm) expansion gap. Perform fillet welding around both the Sockolet-to-run pipe and branch pipe-to-Sockolet joints using approved WPS with certified welders.
Cleaning: Post-weld cleaning and inspection as per quality procedure; no post-weld heat treatment required.
Socket Gap: The 1/16" expansion gap is mandatory to prevent thermal expansion cracking during service.
Cleanliness: Requires a higher degree of cleanliness than steel fabrication to prevent contamination.
Temperature Limit: Maximum service temperature ~400°C; avoid operation above this range.
Welding Procedure: Use inert gas shielding (argon) for welding to prevent oxidation.
Filler Metal: Use matching 70/30 CuNi filler metal (e.g., ERCuNi) for welding.
Inspection: Visual and PT examination recommended for fillet weld integrity after installation.
