1. Product Description

This product is a forged threaded hex plug manufactured from UNS S32202 lean duplex stainless steel in accordance with ASTM A815 and ASME B16.11 standards . UNS S32202 is a low-nickel, molybdenum-free duplex stainless steel with a dual-phase microstructure of approximately 50% ferrite and 50% austenite . It offers mechanical strength approximately twice that of 304L while providing comparable corrosion resistance . The hex head design provides a convenient wrenching surface for installation and removal. This fitting is designed for threaded (NPT) connection to permanently seal the end of a pipe or fitting in small-bore piping systems.

1. Preparation: Clean pipe threads and plug threads thoroughly; remove all dirt, oil, and debris 

2. Thread Sealant: Apply PTFE tape or pipe dope to male threads to ensure a reliable seal

3. Thread Engagement: Screw the plug into the threaded opening by hand, then tighten with a wrench

4. Avoid Over-tightening: Do not exceed recommended torque to prevent cracking the fitting body or damaging threads

5. Inspection: After installation, perform leak test per system requirements

• Thread Compatibility: NPT and BSP threads are not interchangeable. Verify thread type per system specification 

• Temperature Limitation: Maximum corrosion service temperature is approximately 440°C (820°F) 

• Avoid Overload: Do not subject to harmful loads and forces other than internal pressures 

• Lean Duplex Properties: While offering good corrosion resistance, UNS S32202 is not equivalent to higher alloyed duplex grades (e.g., 2205) in severely corrosive or high-chloride environments 

• Crevice Corrosion: In potable water applications, use adequate geometry to avoid crevices
