1. Product Description

This product is a stainless steel short-type butt-welding stub end, manufactured in strict compliance with ASTM A403 and ASME B16.9 standards, and generally meets MSS SP-43 requirements as well. It is a forged or wrought butt-welding fitting designed to be used with a Lap Joint Flange, forming a detachable lap joint connection. The material is ASTM A403 WP304 stainless steel, offering excellent corrosion resistance and mechanical properties.

1. Cleaning: Remove all dirt, grease, oil, or debris from the weld areas of both the pipe end and the stub end.

2. Alignment: Accurately align the plain (non-flanged) end of the stub end with the pipe end.

3. Welding: Perform butt-welding following the approved Welding Procedure Specification (WPS), using certified and qualified welders.

4. Assembly: Slide the lap joint flange over the stub end, place a suitable gasket between the lapped faces, and tighten the bolts evenly in a cross-torque sequence.

• Rating Verification: Always verify that the size, schedule, and pressure rating (Class) match the system design requirements before installation.

• Proper Welding: Welding must be carried out by qualified personnel in strict compliance with standard welding procedures.

• Avoid Overloading: Do not exceed the recommended torque during bolt tightening to avoid gasket extrusion or damage to the lapped face.
