Application
The alloy is used in furnace components and equipment, petrochemical furnace cracker tubes, pigtails and headers, and sheathing for electrical heating elements
FORGING
Forging of this alloy is carried out between 2200/1600ºF (1200/870ºC): heavy forging is carried out in the range 2200/1850ºF (1200/1010ºC).
Chromium carbide precipitation will occur in the temperature range 1400/1000ºF (760/540ºC), thus parts should be cooled rapidly through this temperature range.
WELDABILITY
The alloy may be welded by all processes. The alloy supplier should be consulted for a guide to electrodes and filler metals to be used. Parts to be welded should be clean and joint designs should be such that a minimum of stress may be set up during welding.
