Description

The rigid cage strander is the machine par excellence for manufacturing conductors for power cables. This the strander combines quality, productivity and flexibility compared to other stranding methods.

Comparison with Tubular Stranders

The main differences between the Rigid Frame Strander and another common stranding machine – the Tubular Strander – are as follows:

Structure: The Rigid Frame Stranding Machine adopts an open-frame structure, while the Tubular Strander features a closed tubular structure.

Applicability: The Rigid Frame Strander focuses more on large-section, high-speed, and high-volume wire and cable production. The Tubular Strander is better suited for small-section production scenarios requiring high flexibility (easy specification change) or where a fully enclosed environment is necessary.

Pay-off Reels:

The Rigid Frame Strander typically uses larger pay-off reels (e.g., PN630, PN800, PN1000) to meet long-duration continuous production needs.

The primary function of the rigid frame strander is to twist multiple individual wires (conductors) or strands together according to specified direction and lay length, forming larger-section stranded conductors, cable cores, or cables. Its core workflow is as follows:

Pay-off:

At its heart are one or more robust rotating metal frames equipped with multiple pay-off reels (bobbins), typically featuring tension control devices, which supply individual wires or strands.

Stranding:

The entire frame rotates at high speed, causing all mounted pay-off reels to rotate with it. Simultaneously, the central core wire (or cable core) advances linearly along the machine axis.

Forming:

The combination of the frame's rotary motion and the wire's linear advance causes the surrounding individual wires to twist tightly onto the central core at the preset helix angle (i.e., the stranding lay length).

Take-up:

The finished stranded product is wound onto the take-up reel.
