42CrMo hot rolled round steel bars are high-strength alloy structural steel bars supplied in the hot-rolled condition, with a dark oxidized mill scale surface. The material corresponds to AISI 4140 / SAE 4140, DIN 1.7225 / 42CrMo4, and JIS SCM440, making it one of the most widely used chromium-molybdenum alloy steels for demanding mechanical applications.
This grade offers an excellent balance of high strength, good toughness, and superior hardenability. It responds readily to heat treatment, including quenching and tempering, induction hardening, and case hardening, making it suitable for components that require a hard, wear-resistant surface combined with a tough, ductile core.
