Our bulb flat steel is hot-rolled in accordance with EN 10067:1996, the European standard that specifies nominal dimensions, shape tolerances, and mass tolerances for hot-rolled bulb flats. Produced from structural steel grades S235JR and S355JR per EN 10025-2, these profiles are engineered for use as stiffeners in ship hulls, decks, bulkheads, and steel bridge structures.
Compared with flat bars of equal weight, the bulb profile delivers substantially higher buckling resistance thanks to the thickened bulb edge, while the rounded edges eliminate sharp corners that tend to lose paint coverage. This means fewer re-coating cycles and lower maintenance costs over the vessel’s or structure’s service life.
