5. Installation Procedure (Overview)

 Note: Replacing valve stem seals is a complex internal engine repair. It is recommended to be performed by a professional technician using specialized tools.

Typical Procedure (Cylinder Head-On Method):

1. Preparation: Remove components like the intake manifold, ignition coils, and valve cover to access the valvetrain.

2. Set Timing: Rotate the crankshaft to position cylinder 1 at Top Dead Center (TDC) on the compression stroke.

3. Secure Valves: Apply compressed air into the spark plug hole to hold the valves in place, preventing them from dropping into the cylinder.

4. Remove Old Seal: Use a special tool to compress the valve spring, remove the collets ("keepers"), then remove the spring retainer and spring. Carefully extract the old seal with专用 pliers.

5. Install New Seal: Lubricate the lip of the new XR85231 seal with clean engine oil. Use a 专用 installation sleeve or driver to press it vertically and evenly onto the top of the valve guide until fully seated. Avoid brute force or hammering.

6. Reassembly & Inspection: Reassemble all components in reverse order. After installation, start the engine and check for leaks or abnormal smoke.
