1.The composition of motor vehicle exhaust is complex, which contains carbon monoxide, unburned hydrocarbons, nitrogen oxides, lead, sulfur dioxide and other harmful substances. Carbon monoxide has toxic effects on all tissues and cells of human body, especially on cerebral cortex. Hydrocarbons refer to organic compounds composed only of carbon and hydrogen, including alkanes, alkenes, alkynes, cyclic hydrocarbons and aromatic hydrocarbons. Methane, toluene, etc. are hydrocarbons, which can cause cancer to human body, and also cause greenhouse effect or harmful photochemical smog. Nitrogen oxides (NOx) are mainly nitric oxide (NO) and nitrogen dioxide (NO2). Their pollution is related to the use of minerals as energy sources, and it is also one of the factors that form photochemical smog pollution. It will also be oxidized into nitric acid in the atmosphere to cause acid rain, reducing stratospheric ozone and enhancing ultraviolet radiation of the earth.
