At the top of the small head there is an oil collecting hole, the crankshaft rotation spurts the oil splashing to the top of the piston chamber, after cooling the piston, a part of it falls through the oil collecting hole to collect and flow into the small head hole of the connecting rod to lubricate the piston pin.
The connecting rod is an important part of the engine such as automobile and ship, which connects the piston and crankshaft. Its function is to change the reciprocating motion of the piston into the rotating motion of the crankshaft, and transfer the force acting on the piston to the crankshaft for output power. In addition to the pressure generated by the combustion chamber gas, the connecting rod also bears the longitudinal and transverse inertial forces.
Thus, the linkage operates in a complex state of stress. It is subjected to both alternating tensile and compressive stresses and bending stresses.
