The PC650-8 Komatsu large excavator utilizes a dual-pump variable displacement piston system. The hydraulic main pump is a tandem main piston pump consisting of front and rear sections.
Common Faults & Diagnostics
Weak/Slow Movement on One Pump Side: Internal leakage from worn pistons, valve plate, or slippers in that section. Diagnose by measuring front and rear pump pressures and case drain flow separately.
Abnormal Noise/Squealing: Insufficient suction, air ingress, or contaminated oil causing internal pump wear.
Engine Lugging/Speed Drop Under Load: Seized power regulator/control spool causing pump to remain at large displacement and absorb excessive power.
High Oil Temperature: Severe internal leakage within the main pump.
