The journey begins with Mechanical Bar Screens to filter out large debris. This is followed by Horizontal Flow Oil Separators or Dissolved Air Flotation (DAF) units, which are critical for removing fats, oils, and grease (FOG) to prevent clogging in downstream reactors.
Wastewater is collected in a Regulating Tank and a Buffer Tank to stabilize flow rates and pH levels, ensuring a consistent feed for biological treatment.
In the heart of the system, the wastewater enters the USR (Upflow Solids Reactor) or other specialized reactors. Here, organic matter is broken down by bacteria in the absence of oxygen, producing methane-rich biogas.
The raw biogas undergoes Biogas Dehydration and Desulfurization to remove moisture and corrosive sulfur compounds. The purified gas can be used in a Biogas Generator or Boiler to produce heat and electricity, or stored as CNG.
Post-digestion slurry is processed via Solid-Liquid Separation equipment. This produces a fibrous digestate used as Organic Fertilizer and a liquid digestate that can be stored in a Black Film Pond for irrigation or further polishing.
