The Continuous Stirred-Tank Reactor (CSTR)

As shown in the schematic above, a CSTR solution operates at a steady state where reactants are continuously pumped into the tank while an equivalent volume of reacted product is drawn out (Effluent). The Plug Flow Reactor (PFR)

Unlike the CSTR, a PFR (or tubular reactor) routes fluids through a long pipe or column structure without back-mixing. 4. Crucial Safety and Control Systems
