White corundum is a material that is created using industrial alumina powder. The powder is then melted in an arc furnace at a high temperature of more than 2000 degrees before being cooled and shaped through grinding and shaping processes. After magnetic separation of iron and particle size screening into different products, white corundum is created.
With its close texture, angular shape, and high hardness, white corundum is perfect for various applications. It is primarily used in the manufacture of ceramics, resin consolidation abrasive tools, grinding, polishing, sandblasting, precision casting, and high-grade refractory materials.
Compared to brown corundum, white corundum has slightly higher hardness and slightly lower toughness. It has high purity, good self-sharpening, and strong grinding ability making it ideal for various operations. It produces small heat and has high efficiency, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, and high-temperature thermal stability. The color of the workpiece is not affected, making it an ideal material for sandblasting where iron powder residue is prohibited.
White corundum micro-powder grade is especially suitable for wet sandblasting and grinding operations due to its high processing speed and high quality. The amount of iron oxide is minimal, making it appropriate for sandblasting without any iron residue.
White corundum abrasive is an ideal solution for high-end products, process, or hardware products surface beautification treatments. One of its primary uses is the removal of rust, dirt, and oxidation from iron workpieces. This process helps to increase the adhesion of coatings and results in a smooth, clean surface.
In addition, white corundum abrasive can be used with aluminum workpieces to remove oxidation skin, enhance surface strength, and add a glossy effect. With copper workpieces, it can achieve a matte effect by removing oxidation skin.
White corundum abrasive has versatile applications and can be utilized as a solid coated abrasive tool for wet or dry sandblasting. It is also used extensively in super fine grinding, polishing, and making high-grade refractory materials for the crystal and electronic industries.
