Brown Corundum is made of high-quality bauxite as raw material, anthracite and iron filings. It is made by arc smelting at a temperature of 2000°C or higher. This material is further processed by undergoing crushing, magnetic selection to take out iron particles, and sieving into different sizes. It is dense and hard with its spherical pellets suitable for the production of ceramics, abrasive resins, grinding, polishing, sandblasting, and precision casting. It can also be applied to the manufacture of high-grade refractories.
Brown corundum is an popular surface treatment material, due to its high density, no dust is released during the process of sandblasting, which not only protects the operator's health and safety but also improves visibility. In contrast, slag and quartz sand are much more fragile abrasives which generate an abundance of small particles when crushed, suspended in the air and causing environmental pollution.
Brown corundum has a high grinding efficiency. It operates at a certain pressure, which allows a large number of sharp edges to quickly impact the surface. This results in high acceleration of the particles in the air flow making it twice as fast as regular abrasives.
The unique particle size of brown corundum ensures that more effective particles strike the surface. The cutting consumption of brown corundum is low meaning there is less waste to be disposed.
