PP Biaxial Gegrid Introduction:
The properties of Biaxial Geogrids, made of Polypropylene (PP) with their square apertures, high tensile strength and optimised geometry of nodes and ribs make them equal to any other similar material. The reinforcing action of PP Biaxial Geogrids lies mainly in confining soil and increasing its shearing resistance by a process of interlocking between the square ribs and the soil. The load dispersal effect from the interlocking mechanism is highly effective and can reduce sub-base thickness and construction cost. PP Biaxial Geogrids can be used with any kind of mechanical fill material. Two aperture size ranges are available for optimum matching with project fill.
A geogrid is a geosynthetic with large openings or apertures. Geogrids are used as soil reinforcement below roads, under structures and behind retaining walls. They also reinforce paving overlays.
Geogrids can be uniaxial (strength in one direction) or biaxial (equal strength in both directions) and are made from polyester, polypropylene or fiberglass. Manufacturing methods include woven, knitted, extruded or otherwise “integrally formed.”

Biaxial Geogrids for Base Stabilization
Biaxial geogrids are designed to have roughly the same tensile strength in both directions and to distribute loads over a wider area, increasing the load capacity of the soil. Base reinforcing geogrids interlock with the aggregate to confine the base and reinforce the subgrade. In paved or unpaved applications, they reduce rutting and help maintain the desired aggregate depth.

Uni-Axial Geogrids for Slopes & SRWs
Uniaxial geo grids typically have their tensile strength in the machine (roll) direction. They are mainly used to reinforce the soil mass in a steepened slope or segmental retaining wall. On occasion, they function as a wrapping to confine the aggregate in the wire forms of welded wire faced steepened slopes.
