CAS 643-79-8 O-Phthalaldehyde OPA — Fluorescent Detection Reagent

Our O-Phthalaldehyde OPA CAS 643-79-8 is a 99% pure fluorogenic reagent for the sensitive detection and quantification of primary amines, amino acids, peptides, and proteins in bioanalytical chemistry. OPA reacts rapidly with primary amines in the presence of a thiol co-reagent (e.g., 2-mercaptoethanol or N-acetylcysteine) to form highly fluorescent isoindole adducts.

Fluorescence Properties

  • Excitation maximum: 340 nm
  • Emission maximum: 455 nm
  • Detection limit: femtomole to picomole range for amino acids
  • Linear dynamic range: 3-4 orders of magnitude
