Chemical Properties of Dicalcium Phosphate [DCP]

Dicalcium Phosphate, also known as Calcium hydrogen phosphate, has a molecular formula of CaHPO4.2H2O and a molecular weight of 172.10. It is characterized by its solubility properties, being easily soluble in dilute Hydrochloric Acid, dilute Nitric Acid, and Acetic Acid. However, it has low solubility in water and is insoluble in alcohol. Additionally, DCP has low moisture absorption. When subjected to heat, DCP starts to lose its crystal water at 90 degrees Celsius and transforms into calcium pyrophosphate at temperatures exceeding 400 degrees Celsius.
