Octylphenol Ethoxylate (OP-4) is a nonionic surfactant from the nonylphenol polyoxyethylene ether series, formed by condensation of ethylene oxide and alkylphenol. At room temperature, it appears as a pale yellow, transparent, oily liquid with strong lipophilic properties. It is insoluble in cold water but soluble in various organic solvents and mineral oils, and disperses in water.
This product exhibits excellent wetting and penetrating power, low foaming, resistance to acids, alkalis, and hard water. It is chemically stable with outstanding emulsifying ability. With a low HLB value, it functions as a water-in-oil emulsifier and is often used in combination with highly hydrophilic emulsifiers such as OP-7 and OP-10.
It possesses good dispersing, solubilizing, wetting, degreasing, and penetrating properties, is unaffected by water hardness, has excellent compatibility, and can be mixed with anionic, cationic, and various nonionic surfactants.

Octylphenol Ethoxylate (OP-4) exhibits excellent solubility, readily soluble in oils and various organic solvents. It forms a dispersion in water and possesses excellent emulsifying stability. Its properties make it suitable for oil-phase systems, making it a typical water-in-oil (W/O) industrial emulsifier.
