Theory
Zinc oxide is an ionic oxide featuring a wurtzite crystal structure.
Rubber vulcanization: ZnO reacts with stearic acid to form zinc soap, which activates sulfur cross-linking and constructs a stable 3D network within rubber.
UV shielding: Its high refractive index enables reflection and absorption of both UVA and UVB rays.
Antibacterial effect: Photogenerated reactive oxygen species disrupt the cell membranes of microorganisms.
Pigment performance: High refractive index delivers strong hiding power.
