Introduction:
A light yellow, free-flowing liquid with a strong, fragrant aroma resembling meat or broth and a sweet flavor at low concentrations. Boiling point: 195°C (93-94°C, 2265.5 Pa). Slightly soluble in water, but soluble in ethanol, propylene glycol, and oils.
Naturally present in the volatile components of tomatoes, wine, and soy sauce.
Uses:
This product has a strong onion and meat odor, and upon dilution, it develops a soy sauce odor. It is primarily used for seasoning sauces. Japan's "Food Additives Standard" stipulates that as a food additive, it cannot be used for purposes other than flavoring. 3-Methylmercapto-1-propanol can also be used to odorize liquefied gas, with the dosage measured in ppm.
