This custom twisted lingual retainer is mainly used for fixed retention after orthodontic treatment. It is bonded to the lingual surface of anterior teeth to stabilize tooth alignment and prevent relapse, and the matched transfer jig helps dentists achieve accurate and efficient bonding in clinic.
With good oral hygiene and no heavy biting force, it can stay stable for many years. Regular dental check-ups every 6 months are recommended. It may need replacement if the wire breaks or debonds.
There will be mild tongue irritation at the beginning. Most patients adapt within 3–7 days. It rarely causes permanent pronunciation problems. Avoid hard, crunchy and sticky foods to prevent wire breakage or debonding.
Yes. Special floss threaders, interdental brushes and water flossers are recommended for daily cleaning around the wire. Plaque easily accumulates beside the retainer, which may lead to gingivitis or caries if neglected.
Stop using it as a retainer immediately. Send us the original STL data if available, and we can fabricate a new one quickly without new impressions. In the meantime, use removable retainers temporarily to avoid tooth relapse.
Normally there is no sharp pain. Minor tongue soreness is common in the first few days. If the wire pokes the tongue badly, send it back for polishing or adjustment.
