It’s a good way and popular patches use in clothes, you can change it any time, backing is glue, it can be firmly adhered to the fabric with an iron and is easy to use.
For embroidered patches, there are one popular and high end patch, it’s 3D patches. It uses different and difficult technic to make it with 3D pattern, then you can see it with solid.
