Low-power camera module

The OV5640 USB camera module is a high-performance, low-power embedded image acquisition device that uses the industry-leading OmniVision OV5640 sensor, supports 5-megapixel (2592×1944 resolution) HD image output, and can be plug-and-play through the USB interface. It is widely used in smart home, industrial inspection, video conferencing, drone aerial photography, robot vision and embedded development.

High-sensitivity camera module

The OV5640 is a 5MP USB interface camera module that uses the 5MP OV5645 CMOS image sensor and is built on OmniVision's 1.4-micron OmniBSI™ pixel architecture. The OV5645 camera module provides high-performance 5MP photography and 60p HD video at 720 frames per second (FPS) and 30p HD video at 1080 FPS. The sensor module's 720p HD video is captured with a full field of view using 2 x 2 pixel binning, which doubles sensitivity and improves signal-to-noise ratio (SNR). A unique post-pixel binning, resampling filter feature removes aliasing artifacts around slanted edges and minimizes spatial artifacts, providing clearer, crisper color images.

OV5640 Camera Module Functions and Features

1)High resolution: supports up to 5 million pixels (2592×1944)
2)Image processing functions:
-Automatic exposure/focus/white balance (AE/AF/AWB): supports automatic adjustment.
-Image enhancement: supports noise reduction, sharpening, color correction, lens shading correction, etc.
-HDR (High Dynamic Range): optional support to enhance the details of light and dark contrast scenes.
-Video compression: supports MJPEG and YUV output formats.
3)Interface and compatibility:
-Output interface: default DVP parallel interface, but the USB module is plug-and-play through the adapter chip.
-USB protocol: supports USB 2.0/3.0, compatible with UVC protocol, no additional driver required (plug-and-play).
4)Low power design:
-Operating voltage: usually 3.3V or 5V power supply, power consumption optimization is suitable for embedded devices.
-Power saving mode: supports standby mode to reduce power consumption.
